For over 60 years, New Destiny Treatment Center has been rescuing men from the grip of addiction. Beginning with an old brick building on Akron’s Main Street, founder Bruce Hawthorn soon moved the Center to 13 acres just outside of Barberton, where countless individuals, churches, and others, teamed up over the years to erect a 72-bed cinder-block dormitory, a dining hall and a Chapel to nourish the Spirit and transform the soul.

Thirty years later came the Collins Building, which today houses a one-room medical clinic and counselors serving over 150 outpatients.  Then, less than 20 years later, the Foltz Family Center add a much-needed gymnasium, a weight room, and mental health offices.

Most recently, the Bolois Building now houses the Administration and residential counselors.

Mission 2028 will expand hope and healing through a dual-purpose Medical Building that transforms not only how we care for those battling addiction, but how we serve their families and the local community.

Congress has awarded New Destiny $1.5 million to build here.

Now, we need to raise the remaining $2.5M to make Mission 2028 a reality.

Here is an artist’s rendering of where we’re going.

The left-wing: a 6-bed detox unit will receive anyone day or night, in their moment of crisis.

The right-wing: a comprehensive primary care clinic, serving not only our existing clients, but their families and the community.

Together, they form a seamless continuum of care.
